In case you’ve been living under a rock, Indian actress Priyanka Chopra and pop heartthrob Nick Jonas became the most adorable couple in 2018 and we still can’t stop gushing over them.
As if we couldn’t adore them any more than the two are deeply enamored of each other, Chopra gave us another reason to be giddy over the charming couple.
The 36-year-old Miss World 2000 winner and, sigh, the new Mrs. Priyanka Chopra Jonas, stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for the fifth time and explained why she elected to take his surname.

“I always wanted to add his name to mine, because I feel like we’re becoming family. I’m a little traditional and old school like that.”
She did, however, assure, “But I don’t take away my identity. He gets added to who I am.”
The internet sighed and swooned over her powerful statement.

I like that, “ he became part of who I am”. Would love to see a male version of this. Hypenate the names and both change? If he becomes part of me then I become part of him too. I’m not looking for ownership, I want partnership.

Taking on the Jonas moniker wasn’t a huge revelation for everyone. Some people had faith in the couple long before their relationship was even forged.
Big whoop. I’ve been saying I’m Mrs. Nick Jonas for 13 years.

After officially announcing they were dating in May, the lovebirds announced their engagement in July and exchanged vows on December 1, 2018, in Jodhpur, India, in a Catholic and Hindu ceremony.
Location plans were very different in the early planning stages. Chopra Jones told Fallon she initially wanted to get married on an island.
“Acutally I wanted to get married in some private island away from everything. We were really stressed out about everything because we thought Seychelles, Maldives, Mauritius, whatever.”
She was weighted by the stress and logistics of flying everyone out to distant locations. But her 26-year-old husband offered a very simple solution.
“Why aren’t we doing this in India? Shouldn’t I be taking my bride from her home?”
“In India, it becomes like a thing then…I know a gazillion people,” she said. The ceremony spanned over a course of multiple days, with three receptions – one in Delhi and two in Mumbai.
As you can see in the picture below, the picturesque wedding was, indeed, epic.
