Julianne Moore’s Face Just Went Through Every Emotion Known To Man Before Revealing She Was Actually Fired From ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?’

Can You Ever Forgive Me?  was a masterpiece.

The film, which currently holds a 98% “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, was praised by critics and fans alike around the world.

It stars Melissa McCarthy, and is a biopic of Lee Israel, who was best known for her literary forgeries, specifically of letters penned by deceased authors and playwrights.

Originally, the film was set to star Julianne Moore as Israel, but when the original iteration of the film fell apart and changed creative teams, so did the lead role.

However, we have learned that that is not the whole story.  Nicole Holofcener, who co-wrote the screenplay and originally was set to direct, fired Moore after “creative differences.”

Moore talked about it on Watch What Happens Live!:

Eeep.

“I think she didn’t like what I was doing,” Moore said.

“I think that her idea of where the character was was different from my idea of where the character was, and so she fired me.”

Poor Julianne Moore.

We can tell immediately how uncomfortable she is before any words come out of her mouth, because, well…look at her face.

She braces herself first, then thinks about it, then is on the verge of saying it but rethinks it, and then she goes for it.

What would the movie have been like with Julianne Moore?

People are letting their imaginations run wild.

But mostly, people really can’t believe it.

Moore hasn’t seen the Melissa McCarthy version, even though she affirmed her love for the actress.

“It’s still kind of painful,” she said.

But she kept quiet about it throughout awards season, which was pretty cool of her.
