President Trump has suggested that people protesting Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court were paid for their efforts. And, in an attempt to further discredit them, he claimed they were now protesting because they were angry about not getting paid.
This comment, however, was based on a sarcastic remark by Fox News…not fact.
Writer Asra Q. Nomani made a crack about sincere protesters. After being asked if Kavanaugh protesters were being paid, she said, ÛÏbecause people have sent me lots of messages that theyÛªre waiting for their check, a lot of sincere people are protesting.Û
But Trump is not one to easily detect sarcasm.
The paid D.C. protesters are now ready to REALLY protest because they havenÛªt gotten their checks – in other words, they werenÛªt paid! Screamers in Congress, and outside, were far too obvious – less professional than anticipated by those paying (or not paying) the bills!

And Twitter was not about to let that one slide.
Hey can anyone pick up my protesting shift on Friday? I have a wedding and I forgot to request it off. Thanks!!

How about paid Trump campaign rally crowd fillers? pic.twitter.com/wg2HcvkZK7

The man who called Democrats an ANGRY MOB had a rally last night. At the rally the crowd shouted ÛÏlock her up!ÛÏ Not about Hillary, but about Diane Feinstein. Why? Because they disagree with her. ThatÛªs an angry mob. All his rallies are angry mobs.

Commenters included some well known members of Twitter.
If people were ÛÏPaid ProtestersÛ and werenÛªt ÛÏPaidÛ as you say.. Why would they protest again? Oh right! Because none of them were paid or ever expected to be! They did it and will do it because this is their country!

This a lie. Like all the others. DonÛªt ever allow this to feel normal. Somebody soon we will have a President doesnÛªt make stuff up out of thin air. https://t.co/lawXlBAlmm

Hey everyone, I will pay you exactly $0.00 to keep protesting and to vote in large numbers on Nov 6. However, the fringe benefit is that we continue on the path of removing the corrupt, soulless @GOP from power. Any takers?

The bottom line is that the lies can’t even hold together.
Oh! I get it. This is how you run your business. By not paying people and assuming theyÛªll show up for work. I once didnÛªt get paid from a company. I refused to do any work for them until they paid me. It was less than $100. They paid very quickly. YouÛªre doing it wrong.

So you're saying the paid protestors weren't paid … which would make them … just protestors? Interesting.

Is it really that hard to believe that people are opposed to what you are doing? And have the conviction to voice their concern? Or are you just projecting again?

That is a lie. They are patriotic Americans exercising their right to free speech. They are standing on grounds & walking buildings that are paid for by American tax dollars. This is what democracy looks like

Get out and vote in the midterm elections so we can end the circus that has taken over our lives.
