If Keith Richards and Hunter S. Thompson had a baby the world would name it Johnny Depp. The actor, spent some time with Rolling Stone writer Stephen Rodrick and the result was as strange and twisty as one would expect from the star of Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
The interview covers topics ranging from financial lawsuits to drug usage to having a full time sound engineer on payroll while he’s working. It seems with all the distractions on set Depp like to take it back way old school and act like the silent movies. He says:
I’ve got bagpipes, a baby crying and bombs going off. It creates a truth. Some of my biggest heroes were in silent film. It had to be behind the eyes. And my feeling is, that if there’s no truth behind the eyes, doesn’t matter what the fucking words are.
It’s no big secret that Depp, like his hero Thompson is a fan of certain drugs and lot of wine. So it was only a matter of time before the topic came up. Depp had some interesting theories on the benefits of hallucinogens in seeking out terrorists like Osama bin Laden
You get a bunch of fucking planes, big fucking planes that spray shit, and you drop LSD 25. You saturate the fucking place. Every single thing will walk out of their cave smiling, happy.
That one may have left more than a few readers scratching their heads.

Some folks thought the writer was a bit of a snake.
The story on Johnny Depp in Rolling Stone magazine feels like another gain someone's trust and then betray it by trashing them article. He was kind enough to give you access to his inner sanctum and this is how you repay him? #JohnnyDepp

The story built around his quotes doesn't reflect reality. Sad how biased the words are. The reality is that Johnny Depp is doing well, touring the world with his band in perfect health, surrounded by people that love him, meeting fans that know the kind of man he is. A good one.
