Maisie Williams Didn’t Walk Away From The Set Empty-Handed After ‘Game of Thrones’ Finished Filming

Game of Thrones is coming to a close as the final season is set to debut on HBO in January 2019.

Fans are an emotional wreck, awaiting season 8 and theorizing what will happen in the last few episodes. But, as invested as fans might be in the eight-year-long series, no one is more distraught than the stars are.

Maisie Williams, who was just 14 when the series began, confessed that she cried once the cast was done shooting the final season:

It’s been almost a decade. I grew up with these people.

She said that it felt like “cutting an arm off” to leave the beloved land of Westeros. But leaving the set doesn’t mean she has to leave everything behind for good.

During a recent interview, the now 21-year-old actress admitted to keeping one item that has become synonymous with Arya Stark: her iconic brown jacket.

She plans to keep the meaningful memorabilia for a long, long time:

I can imagine it being something that I’m like, ‘Oh, I was on this show once upon a time and this was the jacket I wore.’ And my grandkids being like, ‘Please stop.’

One fan guessed the item that she kept. Bit extreme for a memento, Paul.

For those who don’t speak Game of Thrones, Needle is her long, thin sword, gifted to her by Jon Snow.

And some fans suggested she should have kept that:

This isn’t the most permanent token of the show. Last month Williams and co-star Sophie Turner got matching tattoos in honor of the fantasy-drama. Williams and Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, are on-screen sisters and real-life best friends.

Turner explained the tattoos and the special meaning behind them:

We always said that we wanted them so we got the date 07.08.09 on our arms because that’s the date that both of us found out we’d got our roles in Game Of Thrones. So when we had a day off from filming in Belfast we just went to a tattoo place and got it done.

We’re not crying, you’re crying. And Maisie is crying, probably. Wear that jacket well and with pride, Maisie!
