This Journalist Is Teaching Women How To Deal With Creeps At Autoshops

In recent years there has been a move toward women learning to take care of their own cars, or at least finding other women they can trust to service their vehicles. As Patrice Banks, owner of Girls Auto Clinic, told NPR:

I was afraid I was going to be taken advantage of. I was tired of feeling helpless and having to go talk to a guy. I couldn’t find a female mechanic so I had to learn it

Many women can relate to this feeling and are starting to take matters into their own (greasy) hands.

Journalist Paulana Lamonier recently took to twitter in a thread to teach women how to deal with male dominated mechanic shops by giving tips on simple repairs women can to themselves. Clearly the information was needed, as Lamonier thread quickly went viral.

Grab a pen and paper, school is in session.

Sit up and pay attention, we’re half-way through.

Sounds like great advice to us, and others agreed.

The more you know.
