Giant Eagle, a grocery store in Bolivar, Ohio, has a major beef with one of its deli workers. They’ve accused a female deli counter worker of stealing thousands of dollars worth of deli meat.
The woman was allegedly in the habit of eating five slices of ham a day, though she occasionally opted for salami instead. The store’s loss-prevention manager received a tip about the worker’s meat-eating, and reported her to the local police. On Friday, the woman in question admitted her wrongdoings to deputies from the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Department.
The woman worked the counter for eight years and, according to calculations by someone at Giant Eagle, if she ate two ounces of meat a day, five days a week, for eight years, she’s looking at theft amounting to approximately $9,200.
Many people think the store should be ashamed of themselves for reporting such a minor offense.
She should get more than that for having to work the deli at giant eagle for 8 years, customers are the worst at the deli I've noticed. Giant Eagle give her a break!!! This is so petty it makes giant eagle look bad even though I never shop there

Seriously, they probably throw out hundreds, if not thousands of dollars of bad meat each week…this is seriously an issue? They also give free slices to kids that visit the deli. Leave this poor deli worker alone. I hope they just fire her and not prosecute over this issue.

3-5 slices a day and you go back 8 years? How much deli/produce is wasted and thrown out in 8 years and you stressing about 3-5 slices a minimum wage employee eats? @GiantEagle

“The store’s loss prevention manager received a tip that an employee had been eating three to five slices of ham nearly every day over eight years. Authorities say she also sometimes ate salami.” 8 x 365 x 5 = 14,600 slices….#please

Charged? Only in Ohio. I would love to know their calculation strategy

I just assumed that the only perk of working at a grocery store was free snacks. That's what I consider 3-5 pcs of meat a day.

Well if that story isn’t a bunch of balony or is Giant Eagle just trying to ham it up. This is a case for Sherlock Holmes

But, mostly, people are more impressed by her meat feat than anything else.
I don’t even feel she was totally committed to this. I mean make a damn sandwich at least.

The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office has since taken to Facebook to clarify that, while a report has been made, the woman is not currently facing felony charges as was earlier rumored.
