Anderson Cooper sat down with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) during 60 Minutes on Sunday night.
During their interview, Cooper asked Ocasio-Cortez, “Do you believe President Trump is a racist?” The freshmen congresswoman quickly replied, “Yeah. Yeah. No question.”
When asked, Ocasio-Cortez clarified her statement:
“The president certainly didn’t invent racism. But he’s certainly given a voice to it and expanded it and created a platform for those things.”
She went on to say:
“When you look at the words he uses, which are historic dog whistles of white supremacy. When you look at how he reacted to the Charlottesville incident, where neo-Nazis murdered a woman, versus how he manufactures crises like immigrants seeking legal refuge on our borders, it’s night and day.
.@AOC says the president is a racist, “no question.” The White House told 60 Minutes that President Trump “has repeatedly condemned racism and bigotry in all forms.” https://t.co/HmucF1z6zg pic.twitter.com/N5RlRfHoA9

The White House deputy press secretary said of the interview:
“Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez’s sheer ignorance on the matter can’t cover the fact that President Trump supported and passed historic criminal justice reform and has repeatedly condemned racism and bigotry in all forms.”
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is not having their statements.
Yesterday she reinforced her claim about President Trump’s racism in a tweet.
The President defended Neo-Nazis who murdered a woman in Charlottesville.
The Dept of Justice sued him for not renting to Black tenants.
He launched his campaign by calling Mexicans “rapists.”
He banned Muslims.
The President is racist. And that should make you uncomfortable. https://t.co/RapKlDB99K

The internet is here for Ocasio-Cortez’s comeback.
I stand with this young woman, and future great political leader, 100%. Her passion for social justice, emanating from her life journey as a hard-working, accomplished Latina, drives a fiery articulation of truth that is rarely seen today. We need AOC's voice now more than ever. https://t.co/oQ4iUX6hlq

The President is a racist.
It's as clear as day.
The only people denying it are likely closet racists themselves, or people who simply don't understand what a racist dogwhistle is.
Thank you for not being afraid to speak the truth.

I'm glad someone is finally, publicly saying what is well known and obvious, going back 40 some years

Take your pick:
POTUS is racist, misogynist, xenophobic, narcissist, a white man, a capitalist predator, a cartel of delusion… https://t.co/oUlcsQ6jHD

Whatever else about this, we could use more leaders who are willing to call a racist a racist https://t.co/kBcPs3dsR6
