Vegan Lettuce Sandals Are Now A Thing, So… 🤷‍♀️

The Paris based design house, Rombaut, was founded by Belgian born designer Mats Rombaut. For those who didn’t know, the brand is also vegan.

Playing off of that concept, they’ve posted vegetable creations on Instagram for quite some time…

Mats had originally posted the photos just to show the world that his brand was vegan, filling a major gap in the high fashion footwear market. But then he decided to make these fun visual creations into reality.

Enter the lettuce slider…

They even come in multiple colors…

Model Bella Hadid is known to be a big fan of the brand, and her stylist Mimi Cuttrell is getting on on the lettuce slider action…

Rombaut is known for their ‘slow fashion’, meaning that the designs are not mass produced. This is, in part, thanks to the fact that most materials that are able to be mass produced easily are ones that are not vegan. Mats hopes that these lettuce sliders will help to raise awareness about vegan footwear.

People weren’t quite sure what to make of all of this…

Others gave these shoes some hardcore side eye…

And some were just amused…

Unfortunately the $122 lettuce shoes are made of rubber posing as lettuce, not the real thing.
