Taking a page out of Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic film, Alien, a Canadian couple took to Instagram to show the world they will be bringing a new alien of their own to earth in the form of a human baby.
Todd and Nicole Cameron of Nanaimo, B.C. used a little imagination and a whole lot of humor to take birth announcement photos with a decidedly Halloween feel. The couple posed in a pumpkin patch while photographer, Li Carter snapped shots as the unusual story unfolded.
Todd Cameron told io9:
This particular idea came about when I was at a garage sale and found a model of an Aliens Chestburster. I brought it home, of course, and as I was putting it together and painting it, the idea of a maternity shoot came to me. Nicole wasn’t interested in a traditional maternity shoot so our planning began.
The funniest part for us was laying in a cold wet field, covered in fake blood and just laughing our hearts out, hoping that the farm hands wouldn’t drive by and see us in our current conditions. I have to give huge props to Nicole for shivering on a rainy day in the muddy pumpkin patch and getting splattered with blood all while eight and a half months pregnant.
And then this happens.
Keep an eye on that rascal, he’s a mischievous one.
Todd & Nicole Cameron await the arrival of their new baby through an 'Alien'-inspired maternity shoot. The father-to-be talks more about it on #CheddarBigNews, sharing the passion that he & his wife have for movies, & their love of incorporating them into major life events. pic.twitter.com/AsANe2EKtW

People loved the photos and took them in the spirit they were intended.
Not everyone loved the photos, but that was shot down quick.
Wishing a happy and healthy birth to the whole family.
