Netflix just debuted Season 1 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The new show is a reboot of the ’90s classic, Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
The original starred Melissa Joan Hart as Sabrina Spellman. In this version, Sabrina is a 16-year-old girl who discovers she is a witch. Her aunts Hilda and Zelda, also witches (played by Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick), help her hone her newfound powers. Sabrina works on getting her Witch’s License while simultaneously keeping her powers a secret from her boyfriend, Harvey (played by Nate Richert).
The reboot stars Mad Men‘s Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina. In the Netflix version, Sabrina is not quite 16 and is caught between the witch world that her family belongs to and the human world that her friends are a part of.
Recently, Netflix enlisted some of the original cast members to watch the new series.
Check out their hilarious reactions in this video.
In the video, Melissa Joan Hart watches alongside her ’90s TV love interest, Nate Richert. Richert hilariously jumps at Hart during a suspenseful moment in the show, causing her to jump.
Netflix also brought along Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick.
After just moments of watching, Rhea exclaims:
“It’s terrifying, this show!”
And Broderick agrees, saying:
“It’s really scary. I don’t think I can watch it alone.”
However, Rhea is quick to clarify her feelings about the reboot.
“But we wanna see more. More, please.”
The comments continue to show how times have changed since the original version of the show:
“This is not our Sabrina!”
“She’s very political, little Sabrina. She’s quite empowered.”
“Our spells were more like, ‘bing’! Like, sparkles fly out and glitter.”
