‘Drama Queen’ Jason Momoa Says He Was ‘Constantly Crying’ On The Set Of ‘Aquaman’

Weighing in at 240 pounds and standing tall at six feet, four inches, Jason Momoa is an intimidating figure, to say the least. Which makes it all the more adorable that he couldn’t keep his tears to himself while filming Aquaman, which will be hitting theaters on December 21.

In a recent interview with Mirror UK, Momoa commented:

“I’m the biggest drama queen on the set. I was constantly crying.”

Momoa may not seem like a vulnerable guy but he’s in touch with his feelings:

“I was raised by a single mother and I’m very connected to my emotions.”

And, after so many stoic and menacing roles, he’s glad to finally show some of those emotions onscreen:

“I’m not going to normally get hired to play those emotional things – and I’m capable of it. I’m just trapped in a big, dumb body!”

Not all of Momoa’s tears were emotional, however — some were physical. Obviously, many scenes of Aquaman feature the titular character swimming. For each of these, Mamoa dangled by overhead wires and his harness could apparently become quite…snug in some unpleasant areas:

He joked:

“I weigh 240 lbs, I can’t feel my nuts! You have got to let me down! Take this damn thing off me!”

This is the actor’s third outing as the king of the seas, following a brief cameo in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017’s Justice League. With a 76% fresh score on RottenTomatoes.com, the new movie promises to be one of the Christmas season’s biggest releases, and fans couldn’t be more excited!

Don’t worry, Mr. Mamoa. Every tear is worth it for the big screen.
