Nancy Pelosi’s Daughter Says That She Knows Her Mother’s Viral Condescending Clap All Too Well

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s sarcastic clapping during President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address launched the meme heard around the world. The image of Pelosi’s “There’s a good boy!” act became an instant classic, a statement on a president who craves validation on a constant basis but who does so very little to deserve it.

But the clap isn’t an entirely new thing. According to Christine Pelosi, one of Madam Speaker’s daughters, the clap brought her “back to the teen years.”

“Oh yes that clap took me back to the teen years. She knows. And she knows that you know. And frankly she’s disappointed that you thought this would work. But here’s a clap,” wrote Christine.

Now that Christine Pelosi has confirmed the clap’s sarcastic origins, memes like this one…

…and this one…

…and especially THIS ONE make so much more sense.

Bless you, Christine.

We’re all the better for this delicious “sarcasm energy,” as one social media user referred to Pelosi’s clapping.

Pelosi has not commented on her latest contribution to social media immortality, but she did issue a response to Trump’s pushback at Democrats’ oversight investigations of him, as when he asserted, “If there is going to be peace and legislation, there cannot be war and investigation.”

Pelosi told reporters after a Democratic Caucus meeting that the president had issued a direct threat.

“That was a threat. The president should not bring threats to the floor of the House…He said he wasn’t going to cooperate unless we didn’t exercise our constitutional responsibility to oversight.”

Don’t mess with Nancy Pelosi, okay? She’ll dog walk you.
