After month’s of duking it out with the Trump administration over the rights of detained immigrant minors to get abortions, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) finally had a win.
According to NBC News, “A federal court in Washington told the Trump administration Friday that the government can’t interfere with the ability of pregnant immigrant teens being held in federal custody to obtain abortions.”

The ACLU made the following statement regarding the ruling:
Today’s ruling puts us one step closer to ending this extreme policy of blocking countless young women from their right to abortion care, once and for all. #JusticeForJane

Twitter showed its appreciation for the ACLU’s hard work:
Sincerely, as a member and a citizen and a woman and a sane human being.#JusticeForJane

WELL DONE, ACLU! Thank you for ALL you do.

Boasting a policy of “refusing to facilitate” abortions, the Department of Health and Human Services is responsible for overseeing children who enter the country illegally, unaccompanied by a parent.
Scott Lloyd, the director of the department, has stated that he doesn’t think these young women have a constitutional right to an abortion. He has also expressed his personal views, which oppose abortion altogether. Since he became director of the department in March 2017, he hasn’t approved a single abortion.
Maybe putting an anti-choice Christo-fascist in charge of this program was not a great idea.

Blind to the humanity of the issue, all some people care about is who’s paying the cost:
Who pays for such abortions as it is illegal for US Govt to fund and taxpayers should not bear this cost.

Who pays for this? Are United States citizens who are incarcerated afforded the same right?

Do you mean “detained ILLEGAL ALIENS” they are not immigrants until they start the process of becoming a US Citizen. Maybe the Federal judges can pay for them!

The ACLU has been embroiled in a lawsuit on behalf of the pregnant minors since last year.
This new ruling prevents the government from “interfering with or obstructing” access to abortions and abortion counseling for pregnant minors who entered the country illegally and are being held in federal custody. The order is in effect for the duration of the ongoing lawsuit.
The judge who issued the order also determined that the case will be allowed to move forward as a class action lawsuit.
Emotions regarding the issue ran high on Twitter:
Stop denying the right to autonomy of person.
You don't to get to force someone to remain pregnant when they don't want to be for the same reason you can't be forced to donate bone marrow or a kidney – not even if someone else dies as a result.

Medical care is a human right.
Humanity is not defined by the arbitrary lines drawn on a map by people who died before we were born.
