From the ever-growing list of departing senior staff members, to the F.B.I. raiding the office of his longtime personal attorney Michael Cohen, to Twitter threats of executing airstrikes against Syria, to allegations that he paid off a porn-star for her silence about an affair weeks before the 2016 election, Donald Trump’s Presidency is growing more chaotic by the day. Since February 27, 2017, when TIME Magazine ran their “Nothing To See Here” cover, featuring the President in the midst of a storm while insisting everything was fine, the unpredictability and scandals produced by Trump’s White House seem to have become more and more dramatic. Perhaps that’s why TIME made the rare decision to allow a re-design of that cover, demonstrating the escalating disorder in Washington.
TIME’s new cover: Donald Trump relied on Michael Cohen to weather the storm. Now the President is on his own https://t.co/Z8L5fYLuCO pic.twitter.com/UfTcklwg41

Both covers were designed by frequent TIMES collaborator Tim O’Brien, who commented on his work:
When I painted the ‘Nothing to See Here’ cover art, like many, I assumed the level of chaos could not last, that patriots on both sides of the aisle would step forward to control much of what transpired in the past year…As the never-ending flood of breaking news washed over the White House, and the firings, the scandals and the general mayhem filled each news cycle, I felt the storm metaphor was as relevant as ever. I mostly thought about how water would fill the space, how it would be transparent in some areas and reflective in others.

The new cover’s title, “Stormy,” is clearly referencing the recent scandal surrounding the hush-money Trump payed to porn-star Stormy Daniels (aka Stephanie Clifford) just before the 2016 elections.

TIME has been around for 95 years, and has allowed a cover re-design less than 10 times.
Wonder if he'll hang this cover in his golf clubs.
