GOP Senate Candidate Just Ripped Mitch McConnell Over His ‘Chinaperson’ Father-In-Law

For those who don’t know, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), is the husband of the Secretary of Transportation, Elaine Chao. Don Blankenship, on the other hand, is a Republican Senate candidate in West Virginia. He also happens to be a coal magnate who just got out of prison for his part in a fatal mining explosion in 2010.

While Blankenship was giving an interview on the campaign circuit, he made some bizarre racially charged remarks about Mitch McConnell and his wife.

According to the Huffington Post, he said…

“But I have an issue when the father-in-law is a wealthy Chinaperson and there’s a lot of connections to some of the brass, if you will, in China.”

The whole interview can be heard here.

Elaine Chao’s father happens to have been born in China, but built his fortune right here in New York. Blankenship also went on to accuse Chao of being part of an ‘environmental extremist group’ that forever damaged coal mining in West Virginia. This is, perhaps, a reference to Chao’s involvement as a board member of the Bloomberg Family Foundation, which did, in fact, push alternatives to coal.

The Huffington Post reported another aspect of Blankenship’s comments which make it even more bizarre…

“Blankenship’s fiancée is Farrah Meiling Hobbs, who was born in Beijing and moved to the U.S. in 1996 where she founded her second trading company, according to The New York Times, citing a website belonging to her.”

At one point, he even expressed a desire to move to China. However, he still believes that McConnell is too soft on the nation.

Other people noticed another bizarre aspect of his comments…

Some hoped it was a joke…

Mostly, people just went in on Blankenship, McConnell, and the GOP…

But Alan figured out just who he was targeting…

We’re sure that’ll put him over the top!
