Mandy Patinkin Just Called Out Ted Cruz For Not Really Understanding ‘The Princess Bride’

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has made it no secret that 1987’s The Princess Bride is his all time favorite movie but does he understand it? According to Mandy Patinkin, who played the beloved character Inigo Montoya, the answer is decidedly, no.

Patinkin appeared on the The Late Show recently and explained to Stephen Colbert that the Senator was quoting the lines all wrong.

Patinkin said:

I’ve since asked Sen. Cruz to consider the line, because he goes around campaigning, loves the movie — knows it’s a family movie — quotes every line, but he leaves this line out. It might do him some good to consider this line, considering it is the polar-opposite of half of his modus operandi.

And in that famous voice he added:

I’ve been in the revenge business for so long, now that it’s over, I don’t know what to do with the rest of my life.

In case Cruz still didn’t understand the significance, Patinkin explained:

I’d just ask us all to consider what that means. People are so consumed with revenge — getting back — killing. For what? Once you get revenge, does it make your life better? No.

In other words Cruz —

Patinkin certainly has some fans out there.

Ted Cruz on the other hand, not so much.

Let’s hope that clarifies things for Cruz.
