Multi-Grammy winner Adele turned 30 in a really big way. Just any old party theme would not do. The powerhouse singer had a grand, unsinkable, Titanic-themed party and the internet is both loving and hating the idea.
There were strong reactions to the party’s theme. Many loved it.
I have to say, these looks were made for Adele, remake Titanic shot for shot with her and either CGI Leo or real Harry Styles https://t.co/epjUUyRPxr

Adele as Rose from “Titanic” is legendary

Admittedly, I am a “Titanic” stan and Adele is giving me everything I want. https://t.co/3UsEo9eKdl pic.twitter.com/95w4AkU0BZ

But some people thought the party theme was in poor taste.
We love you #Adele..
But last time I checked #Titanic was a tragedy with loss of 1500 lives.
How on earth one can extract joyous party theme out of this? https://t.co/R7ko8N8Ofo— Ahsan Raza #FBPE (@AhsanRazaUK) May 7, 2018
*clears throat* PEOPLE DIED https://t.co/LgSC3r4jXz
— David Mack (@davidmackau) May 7, 2018
This is exactly what I thought – I get she's celebrating her love of the movie but dancing in life jackets?? come on @Adele https://t.co/CYbUB4SI66
— Tanveer Mann (@tanny_mann) May 7, 2018
I know I'm “easily offended” // harshly critical but is anyone else disturbed that #Adele had a #Titanic themed bday party where they wore life jackets on the dance floor? Like maybe partying whilst mimicing the absolute horror of a ship sinking in the Atlantic isnt cool? pic.twitter.com/HFiZEsXCxo
— Kerri Claire (@kerriclrneil) May 7, 2018
This entire thing is ignorance on another level ♀️ ♀️ ♀️ PEOPLE DIED!!! At least have the era for a theme, but don’t dance around in life jackets…. #Disappointed @Adele pic.twitter.com/Rso9Op1VYj

Fans were quick to point out that it was a movie-themed party.

I’m just gonna leave this here… pic.twitter.com/rpJwNK46fX— ana (@Anchii94) May 7, 2018
people are getting way too heated lmao her party is portraying fictional characters in a romance movie
— bagel // 20 (@exlynn102) May 7, 2018
She’s a fan of the movie! She’s the last person on earth that will make a party mocking the disaster! Y’all reach too damn much!
— Vanessa H (new account also fan account) (@adele_hasmywig) May 7, 2018
Does that mean that ghostbusters parties are banned? Or any Halloween dress up? In case we offend people who died 106 years ago? ❄️
— Jamie Halls (@JamieHalls22) May 7, 2018
It was a titanic movie themed party, i don’t get why anyone is offended. pic.twitter.com/No9JYzTqd1
— B (@DollyMamaB) May 7, 2018
#NotOffended. The party was a Titanic 'the movie' themed party. Adele went dressed as Rose – a character that doesn't exist in real life. If this offends you then the whole movie should offend you as well.
— Elephant Story (@elephant_story) May 7, 2018
Jeez.. to all of the offended… don’t ever host a murder mystery party, watch another movie based on a true story, or watch the news…. Because if u do….Spoiler alert it will make u upset and might offend u… #adele #titanic
— Laura (@lmarriott1129) May 7, 2018
Some threw out other tragedies that would make poor party themes.
So what’s next? A Pearl Harbor party… 9/11 party.. holocaust party.. Chernobyl desaster party.. 2004 tsunami party.. challenger disaster party.. Halifax explosion party.. these celebrities have no shame.
— Maya Delmas (@mayadelmas) May 7, 2018
My cousin is having a Hindenburg themed party
— Chachi Malone, and 12K others (@BungSlinger) May 7, 2018
I liked the movie “Saving Private Ryan” so we're going to have a “Storm Omaha Beach”-themed birthday party.
— Ed McNamara (@EdMackSHI) May 7, 2018
This is odd. Well we now know one day in the far future there will be a 9/11 themed Birthday Party. Sad
— E.L Smith (@elsmithcomedy) May 7, 2018
Great. Next year it’s Schindlers list then?

We do celebrate death on certain holidays.
People died for america we blow up fireworks for fourth of july. Or should we stop that
— LibertadSC2 (@LibertadTV_23) May 7, 2018
Try celebrating Australia Day; The commencement of the massacre of the aborigines by the British.
— Sheldon (@ang_sheldon) May 7, 2018
I’m only talking about adele here. Ppl r more offended bc of the life jackets which I do get it but @ the same time we celebrate holidays where people have died (thanksgiving/4th of july…etc) & all of the sudden people care so much about the deaths that happened on the titanic
— Vanessa H (new account also fan account) (@adele_hasmywig) May 7, 2018
The same people who have been glamorizing & romanticized Titanic for years SUDDENLY remembered it was tragic because Adele had a themed party based on a FICTIONAL love story. You all better stop wearing camouflage, celebrate thanksgiving and many other things that are tragic then
