On Friday afternoon, a mechanical dragon was ablaze at an Orlando Disney World parade. Patrons at the park quickly noticed the creature was on fire, and whipped out their phones to catch the action. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the fire was extinguished quickly and the park was cleared after the parade was stopped.
EW reports the incident took place during the Festival of Fantasy parade when the mechanical dragon (which, reports the outlet, represents a beast from the Disney film, Maleficient) malfunctioned and caught fire. The local fire department arrived at the scene quickly, but park employees had extinguished the flames by the time they arrived.
When it comes to operating the dragon, one employee controls the dragon unit from inside, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Another employee takes the rear. Luckily, no one was injured in the ordeal. A spokeswoman from the company tells the Orlando Sentinel that they are trying to figure out what went wrong.
The Festival of Fantasy has now been running for four years. It pays homage to characters like Mickey Mouse and those from Frozen. Maleficient was released in 2014, and stars Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning.
