Everyone has their go to drink when they fly. For some, it’s wine. For others, it’s coffee. And apparently, for a small but vocal minority, it’s tomato juice. United Airlines had announced early this past week that they would no longer be carrying it on their flights.
People quickly became upset by this development…
@united heard a rumor tomato juice (and diet sprite) soon to be discontinued. Blood Mary Mix is not a substitute! Everyone knows tomato juice tastes better on the plane and is popular. Google it. Please reconsider. Don’t race to the bottom!

@united Please, bring back Mott’s Tomato Juice, it’s probably absurd but it brings me joy and comfort on my flights and I can’t stand Mrs. T’s bloody mix!

@united Swing and a miss again. Bought the TV service and it cut out a number of times and guess what? No tomato juice again.. just spicy bloody Mary mix. I'm pretty sure that I'm no longer going to fly United. Definitely frustrated and I don't feel I get my money's worth.

But never fear! United Airlines heard customer’s upset and decided to bring the tomato nectar of the airline gods back to all of us.
United released this statement on Thursday…
“We want our customers to know that we value and appreciate them and that we’re listening. Our customers told us that they were not happy about the removal of tomato juice so we’re bringing it back onboard as part of our complimentary beverage offering.”
They even tweeted…

Jubilation broke out across the Twitter-verse…
Thank you @united for bringing the tomato juice back!

It would b great if United heard its passengers re plane comfort as well as they listened re tomato juice, I still hear from cabin attendants who say they can’t fit in the toilets on newer 737-800/900 series planes, same for a lot of passengers. So much for comfort and convince

Ok. Now how about all the other reductions in meal service, especially for your Business/First passengers?

Well, we’ve won this small battle. Maybe we’ll win some of these bigger ones next!
