Emilia Clarke Admits That When She Met Prince William Things Took An Embarrassing Turn

The stakes were high. Emilia Clarke was waiting to meet royalty– the one and only, Prince William. She reached out a shaking hand, only for her words to fail her. Instead of saying, as she was told to, “Your Royal Highness,” she said something like this: “Ya-haaa-ryallllll.” “That’s pretty much all I managed,” Clarke recently told Seth Meyers while laughing.

Clarke was on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” to promote her latest film, Solo: A Star Wars Story, which also stars Thandie Newton, Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, and Woody Harrelson. In the novie, she plays Qi’ra. Casting was announced last year, although it wasn’t until last month fans learned about the nature of Clarke’s role in the film.

As Den of Geek points out, Solo: A Star Wars Story marks the actress’s fifth big screen role.

The actress, 31, has been nominated for three Emmy Awards for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series, as well as a Critics Choice TV Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. In 2013, Clarke made her Broadway debut as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

The actress was born in London in 1986. Her father worked as a theater sound engineer, and her mother was the director of a charity foundation. Clarke attended Drama Centre London, where she graduated from in 2009. She was cast as Daenerys Targaryen in HBO’s Game of Thrones in 2010.
