The Tonight Show host, Jimmy Fallon, showed up unannounced to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and gave the commencement speech, surprising the graduation class. The students at the highschool have been through a unimaginable trama this year when 17 of their classmates were gunned down.
As a result many of the students have been leading the charge of sensible gun legislation after organizing a world wide March For Out Lives event. After Fallon’s speech, four families accepted diplomas on behalf of the students who were murdered while attending school on that day.
In his speech Fallon mentioned meeting many of the students who participated in the March For Out Lives event. He pointed out that he spent some time with the teachers and how proud they are of the students leading the charge on gun control. Fallon said about the activist students:
You are not just the future – you are the present. Keep changing the world. Keep making us proud.

But we must not forget the four students who are no longer with us.
Marjory Stoneman Douglas graduates with 4 empty chairs.
If that doesn’t shake government leaders to the core, I don’t know what would.
