ABC And Priyanka Chopra Apologize For Controversial ‘Quantico’ Episode After Backlash

A recent episode of Quantico has some audience members upset with its portrayal of Indian terrorists.

In the episode, titled The Blood of Romeo, Chopra’s character, Alex Parrish, has to fend off a terrorist attack by Indian nationalists.

Many viewers were upset with the episode’s content:

On Saturday, Chopra took to Twitter to apologize for the episode:

ABC subsequently issued a statement that read:

“ABC Studios and the executive producers of Quantico would like to extend an apology to our audience who were offended by the most recent episode, ‘The Blood of Romeo.’ The episode has stirred a lot of emotion, much of which is unfairly aimed at Priyanka Chopra, who didn’t create the show, nor does she write or direct it.

She has no involvement in the casting of the show or the storylines depicted in the series.”

And people also took to Twitter to voice their support for Chopra in the wake of the episode’s airing:

This news comes just days after ABC announced they would be cancelling Roseanne after insensitive comments were made by the show’s star. Quantico is currently in its third and final season.

Some people have commented on the how little time has passed between the Roseanne scandal, and now, the Priyanka Chopra controversy.

At this time, the network has not announced that they will be ending the show early.
