Seth MacFarlane Says He’s ‘Embarrassed’ That His Shows Air On Fox After Tucker Carlson’s Mind-Boggling Comment

It’s a difficult spot to be in when the company that signs your checks has a completely different — and often disgusting — viewpoint than your own. Seth MacFarlane, creator and producer of Family Guy, found himself at odds with the network that airs his shows after Fox News host Tucker Carlson warned viewers to trust no one but Fox News.

“If you’re looking to understand what’s actually happening in this country, always assume the opposite of whatever they’re telling you on the big news stations,” Carlson warned, a laughable, albeit terrifying, concept. Fox News has been caught dishing out misinformation on more than one occasion, but sadly, there are people who still blindly follow Carlson’s advice.

Not being one of those people, MacFarlane took to Twitter to call Carlson out, following up on a tweet posted by CNN correspondent Brian Stelter. “Don’t think critically, don’t consult multiple news sources, and in general, don’t use your brain,” MacFarlane sneered.

He continued by calling Carlson’s comment “fringe sh*t” and admitted that he was embarrassed to work with Fox. His embarrassment may not last too long, however, as both Comcast and Disney have started a bidding war over purchasing 21st Century Fox.

Should either deal go through, Comcast or Disney would own all aspects of 21st Century Fox, but Fox News would remain under the control of Rupert Murdoch.

Both MacFarlane’s and Carlson’s sentiments find their echoes on Twitter, creating a toxic back-and-forth that divides the nation in a bickering social media war with no foreseeable end.

One Twitter user, Jamey Hogarth (@scooterpants94), broke through the bickering with a suggestion that, considering how hard MacFarlane works in his industry, may make the most sense of all.
