Evangeline Lilly Just Completely Owned Male Actors Who Complain About Their Superhero Costumes ????

If you’ve followed much of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you’ve likely heard the spandex-clad male leads complaining about how uncomfortable the costumes are. It makes sense, right? They’re working for hours in incredibly tight attire, the sweat building up in all of the wrong places. Chafing must be an issue.

As uncomfortable as it may be, Evangeline Lilly doesn’t want to hear about it.

The Ant-Man and the Wasp actress sat down with BackstageOL’s Dave Morales to discuss what it was like donning the Wasp’s costume. Based on prior reactions of her male counterparts, surely she expected a miserable experience. On the contrary, Lilly had just five words that should make every male MCU actor that complained feel a little bad.

“It’s just not that bad,” Lilly recalled her initial reaction to slipping into her Wasp costume.

She didn’t leave it at that, though. The former Lost actress explained why it may have been more comfortable for her than for her male co-stars. At first, she wondered: “Do I have the most comfortable suit in the MCU?” But then she remembered she was a woman and discomfort wasn’t really a new concept for her.

“Or have men not had the life experience of being uncomfortable for the sake of looking good…” Lilly said, lifting her high-heeled foot into the frame. “Whereas a woman’s like ‘I don’t know. It’s normal. I wear heels to work, I’m uncomfortable all day. You get used to it, you tune it out.”

Another commenter pulled up an older interview with Gwyneth Paltrow where she admitted her male co-stars were being “crybabies” over the Iron Man costume.

Seriously, though, can’t we just have fun with Lilly’s comment? Sure, there may be some truth to it, but let’s follow in Morales’ footsteps and have a good hearty laugh about it.
