A Homophobic Mayor Who Called Gays ‘An Abomination’ Is Resigning Thanks To This Fierce Drag Queen

Richard Smith has resigned as Mayor of Ferryhill in the UK.

The reason behind this departure? He was exposed as a bigoted homophobe by a local drag queen, Tess Tickle.

Smith gained the political local office earlier in the year for the small town, which has a population of a mere 9,000 people, settled in County Durham.

Tickle decided to dig up dirt on the newly elected official and shared several of his social media posts, one even saying that gays are “worthy of death” and an abomination.

Smith also happens to be a preacher and has been spreading the message of ‘traditional marriage’ on social media as well as at the Immanuel Christian Fellowship.

Some of his anti-gay propaganda has been removed by Facebook:

The Christian pastor has since deleted the posts and made his Facebook page private.

Tickle shed a spotlight on the politician’s homophobic and transphobic social media posts.

As a result, Smith was forced to resign.

He refused to apologize, and instead, painted himself to be the victim in this situation:

“Over recent weeks I have been subjected to unprecedented levels of adverse publicity, publicity that has been orchestrated for political advantage, and has threatened both my Church, family, and colleagues alike.”

Smith also insisted that his dangerous and violent views toward LGBTQ+ people are nothing more than ‘personal views…’

Bare in mind that these ‘personal views’ include a video of an explosion at a Gay Pride Party. Oh, and men who “burn in their lust one toward another” are “worthy of death.”

“To be denied the opportunity to hold personal views was never my expectation when I undertook the role of Town Mayor, and it is a matter of sincere regret to me that those personal views have been so tragically and outrageously twisted and reported on in order to discredit both myself and my faith.”

He also claims that Tickle, and those who support equal human rights, have a ‘God-phobia’

“We have lovingly worked to help and provide for those in need, this has now been decimated by the minority mob along with those wishing to score political points and who have a God-phobia.”

Tickle said the following after Smith announced his immediate resignation:

“Please share love not hate, please love each other regardless of faith, race, gender, sexuality.

We are all human, we all have feelings and we all have the right to love who we want to love. We have one life, please live it the way you choose.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me and my community.”

People are applauding the activist and artist for making a positive impact on the LGBTQ+ community and the community of Ferryhill:

Tess Tickle, Mayor of Ferryhill? Perhaps…

Tickle said,

“Don’t let anyone tell you who you can or can’t love.”

Amen, girl!
