Trump’s Tweet About The Thai Cave Rescue Operation Gets Met With Instant Backlash

On June 23, 12 soccer players and their coach were exploring a cave in Thailand when monsoon rains caused rising waters, trapping them. The rescue effort has been difficult, resulting in the death of an ex-navy diver who attempted to provide oxygen tanks to the team.

The good news is that as of this writing, 8 of the kids have been rescued and returned to safety.

Even the U.S. has contributed to the rescue effort, which Donald Trump tried to draw attention to on Twitter over the weekend.

What he posted, however, struck many as tone deaf considering the circumstances:

Twitter was quick to jump on the tweet, questioning whether this was appropriate for Trump to be claiming credit for.

It reminded some of another issue where Trump appears far less concerned about children:

Let’s give credit where credit is due, shall we?

We’re just happy 8 of the kids are out safe, here’s hoping the rest of them plus their coach are rescued very soon.
