The CW is on course to make history when it announced that Nicole Maines will play Nia Nal, or “The Dreamer”, in Season Four of Supergirl.
Nicole was the subject of Becoming Nicole, a 2015 account of one transgender girl’s journey. She is known as a trans activist who appeared in the HBO Documentary, The Trans List.
When speaking about her being cast as Dream Girl, Ms. Maines said, ““We can be whoever we want, we can do whatever we want, we can be superheroes, because in many ways we are. We’ve had trans representation in television for a while but it hasn’t been the right representation.” She went on to say, “I’m nervous because I want to do it right.”
Twitter is thrilled to see such positive strides being made on television.

Nicole Maines is only 21 and she’s already done so much for the trans community. If she’s truly cast as Nia, s4 will be off to a great start pic.twitter.com/5Zr1ClE8Yj

In May it was learned that the CW was actively seeking a trans actress for Nia Nal and it sure is great to see that they found their girl.
