Former FBI director James Comey took a dig at President Trump during NPR’s popular news quiz show “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me” on Saturday.
When Comey chose the wrong answer to a multiple choice question, he quickly changed his answer:
I meant to say I wouldn’t take “A.”
Comey was referring to Trump’s statement from last Tuesday when he tried to divorce himself from a comment he made during the recent summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, claiming he intended to say the word “wouldn’t” instead of “would.”
Comey didn’t get off without a little hazing of his own. Following his quip, the show’s host, Peter Sagal, said he’d like to re-open the game show for one more question, a reference to Comey re-opening his investigation into Hilary Clinton’s emails just before the 2016 election.
You can listen to the audio from the program here. The James Comey section starts at about the 20:22 mark, with Comey’s answer coming at the 27:30 mark:

Commenters appreciated Comey’s brand of humor:
That was a fun show. Heard part of it twice and still laughed at the jokes. The trolling was appropriate and I enjoyed Comey's self depreciating humor.

I turned off the TV and listened to NPR on my computer so I wouldn't miss it. @Comey has a wonderful sense of humor, more than I can say for @realDonaldTrump I can't help but like the guy whether I agree with everything he did or not.

I heard it on Saturday morning July 21, Pacific time. It was even more laugh-out-loud than normal, especially when Comey said “I meant I wouldn't pick A”.

Before the game show got underway, Comey told a hilarious story about trying to avoid hugging President Trump:

In this particular political climate, any levity is much appreciated.
