President Donald Trump found himself to be the center of criticism again (surprise, surprise) after an insulting tweet about CNN anchor Don Lemon and NBA star and philanthropist LeBron James.
The POTUS attacked both men’s intelligence, something he has a habit of doing with people of color.
Here’s what Trump said on Twitter:
Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!

The Twitter attack came after LeBron James announced the opening of his “I Promise School” in Akron, Ohio.
The school’s underlying mission is to provide students in Akron the tools they need to overcome the challenges of a low-income household.
But First Lady Melania Trump spoke out through her official spokesperson, Stephanie Grisham, to share her admiration for what James did, instead of insults or scorn.
Grisham stated for the FLOTUS:
“It looks like LeBron James is working to do good things on behalf of our next generation and just as she always has, the First Lady encourages everyone to have an open dialogue about issues facing children today,”
The official statement continued to say that the First Lady might even want to see the new school.
She tied her statement to Melania’s “Be Best” campaign which focuses on the importance of social, emotional, and physical health for children.

Bravo @FLOTUS

When the First Lady is better at Presidenting than the actual President……

Once again, when the President steps up with unnecessary criticism, the First Lady tries to break through with goodness and kindness. #BeBest

Melania’s words fall among the many voices sharing their support for LeBron and all he is doing.
“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” ~Ali Incredible example of service. Salute!

LeBron is an amazing human being

Rather than criticizing @KingJames, we should be celebrating him for his charity work and efforts to help kids.
By the way, all-around he’s better than Michael Jordan. That’s a fact.
— John Kasich (@JohnKasich) August 4, 2018
You are POTUS! Why would you attack a self made American Hero @kingjames? He has done more for education for children than you ever will. I’m so sad that you use your power to hurt and demean.
— Jamie Lee Curtis (@jamieleecurtis) August 4, 2018
Thank you, LeBron, for all you do to make our country a better place and for giving less fortunate children opportunities. It’s sad our president doesn’t believe in American values. @realDonaldTrump

This long time Michael Jordan fan says hats off to LeBron James for his new Akron school for at-risk kids. Inspiring move from one of our country’s great athletes.
— Senator Dick Durbin (@SenatorDurbin) August 5, 2018
Fair Q: LeBron James built a public school for at-risk children. A successful man paying it forward. Why would @RealDonaldTrump attack him? How many schools has Trump – who is 40 years older – built? Thanks to @KingJames for setting a positive example for others

It’s good to see at least one person in the White House showing support for programs that help children.
