It’s been a very eventful summer for Quantico star Priyanka Chopra. Shortly after her July engagement to boyfriend Nick Jonas, the actress said goodbye to Quantico and her groundbreaking role as FBI agent Alex Parrish.
When Quantico debuted in 2015, Chopra became the first Indian woman to headline an American network series. The show was a breakout hit when it premiered, setting records among on-demand audiences, but after three seasons, ABC decided not to renew the series, which had lagged in ratings during seasons 2 and 3.
In a series of tweets on Friday, Chopra said goodbye to the show, her fans, and her cast mates. The actress talked about her groundbreaking role, hoping that it had “cracked the door open for female talent and women of color to play leading ladies.”
As the season ends, I am saying goodbye to Alex Parrish. As you’ll see, her story will come full circle…and that is the best feeling as an actor. Bringing Alex to life has challenged me physically and emotionally, but even more significant it has (I hope) cracked the door open

Alex was truly one of a kind and brought a beautiful dimension to the female heroine. Easily in my hall of fame awesome tv heroines alongside Buffy, Xena and Kate Beckett, she will be missed. As well as the show overall. 3 seasons of complicated, thrilling and engaging tv pic.twitter.com/QotdPuguB8

And many highlighted the importance of the trailblaizing role.
Thank you for making it normal to see an Indian as a lead on TV. As an Indian American teenager it has meant everything to see such a badass Indian woman taking charge and saving EVERYONE.

Quantico is landmark! I've watched them all, from Emma Peel to Carrie Mathison and Quantico ranks high with them. The lead character being a woman of color makes the show phenomenal. You will be greatly missed! Thanks for 3 great seaasons!

What drew me to Alex is that she is a total badass, showing women you can be strong and tough and still be feminine.
