Kind Stranger Pays For Woman’s Groceries—And Then She Finds Out It Was Actually Ludacris ❤️

Therra Jaramillo’s life has been falling apart lately. She had lost her husband to brain cancer and was solely responsible for taking care of their home, their rescue animals, her disabled brother, and herself. She was doing fine until a major home repair coincided with a lost check from a company. Things were bad enough that she was forced to ration gas and cook rice for her and the animals to eat. A friend sent Therra a gift card to help her buy groceries, but that gift card ended up doing so much more. It was the catalyst that started a chain of events so unbelievable that even Therra is having a hard time believing it.

While she was in line, some of her items got mixed in with the stuff belonging to the person in front of her. He casually offered to just pay for it, and the two struck up a conversation. As they talked, he noticed her trying to sort through things since she had overspent the amount on the gift card. The kind stranger wasn’t having it. He insisted on paying for everything and told Therra he thought it was sweet that she rescued animals even though she was already struggling with so much.

They spoke a bit more and he offered to help her get everything to her car. She declined but asked him his name, by this time crying in shock at his kindness. He introduced himself as Chris, gave her one last hug and, with that, he was gone.

At that point the cashier let Therra know the man who helped her was none other than:

Therra talked about the incident and how much his kindness meant to her in a Facebook post that’s now going viral.

The tail end of her post really hit deep.

Ludacris. This guy is awesome run amok. You know why? He was just doing something kind for a disheveled, harried stranger. Showing the love in his soul. Shining a light in the world. But there’s something else.

What Ludacris had no way of knowing is that I can’t really afford to shop at Whole Foods. Not much, anyway. I was there because Miracle Mary gave me a gift card and knew I’d been shouldering a very rough time as of late.

What Ludacris had no way of knowing is that my husband died of brain cancer and climbing out of that hole, emotionally, physically and financially, has devastated me for most of four years. I won’t lie. I’ve struggled in ways I didn’t know a human could struggle and still survive.

What Ludacris had no way of knowing is that I’m Hurricane Katrina survivor and I lost my mother because of that unnatural disaster.

What Ludacris had no way of knowing is that his quiet kindness and generous gesture came at a moment when my candle was out.

He used his personal light to fire up my own. Isn’t that what we should be doing for each other?

I think it is.

Be like Ludacris y’all.

As the story made it’s way around the internet, people couldn’t help cheering for the rapper/actor. His camp has declined to comment on the record, preferring to let the kind gesture stay just that.

Kindness for the sake of kindness FTW.

To borrow a quote from Therra, be like Ludacris y’all.
