The Late Actress Kathryn Joosten Serves As A Great Reminder That It’s Never Too Late To Pursue Your Dreams

Ageism is a real thing. There is an inherent bias against those who follow a new dream past a certain age. But, sometimes, someone bucks the naysayers and “makes it” later in life. Kathryn Joosten, who passed away in 2012 from lung cancer, is a sterling example of this. She was perhaps best known for playing the role of Dorothy Landingham on The West Wing, as well as Karen McClusky on Desperate Housewives, for which she picked up two Primetime Emmy Awards.

HRC’s Charlotte Clymer reminded us of her story in a Twitter thread posted on Sunday…

And then, Kathryn made a big bet…

And finally got her big break in her 60s…

Clymer then went on to address what was at the heart of this story…

And pointed out that Kathryn’s story was one of many…

People found solace in knowing they weren’t alone…

Thank you Charlotte, for the reminder.
