This Too Real Handshake Meme Is Sweeping The Internet

Who doesn’t love a good meme?

Memes are a universal language that allow people from various backgrounds to share a chuckle with one another.

In fact, memes are so insanely popular that Fuckjerry created the game “What Do You Meme?”, an adult game where players pick their favorite caption for a given meme image (“Cards Against Humanity” style).

But when Tesla’s Elon Musk showed up to the Met Gala with Canadian pop star Grimes (AKA Claire Boucher), a new meme was born to explain the confusing pairing.

The meme was posted to the r/ElonMusk subreddit with the caption “cough cough”.

The original poster has since deleted their Reddit account so the world may never know who this visionary was.

The image is from this scene in the 1987 film Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers.

The Predator handshake image has spawned the newest wave of memes. These memes, as hilarious as you’d expect, can also convey a sense of unity.

The two (or more) hands clasped together represent varying backgrounds finding common ground. Sort of a limbed take on a Venn diagram.

This makes the handshake meme more relatable than Venn and also a bit… dare I say, poignant?

Perhaps this is 2018’s version of contemporary art.

But either way, people all over the world are loving this meme trend.

Leave it to a meme to unite the world. Could there be anything more 2018?
