Ivanka Trump Posing With Anti-Gay Minister Has Many In The LGBTQ Community Crying Foul

Ivanka Trump, who has said in the past that she supports LGBTQ rights, is facing heavy backlash for posing for a photograph on Monday with an outspoken anti-gay minister during a White House dinner with 100 evangelical Christian leaders.

The minister in question is Rev. Jim Garlow, pastor of Skyline Church in La Mesa, California.

Here’s the controversial photo (along with one of hubby, Jared Kushner, with Garlow):

According to HuffPost, Garlow suggested that same-sex marriage supporters should relocate to homes with improper plumbing in a “Point Of View” radio program discussion in 2014.

Here’s his quote:

All the people who advocate for so-called same-sex marriage ought to have to live in homes in which the plumbers who built them, or the electricians who built them, didn’t understand the difference between the male and female end of piping or plumbing or of electrical as well, and see how that works for them. It doesn’t work.

Twitter users were quick to call Trump on her hypocrisy:

Jeremy Hooper, founder of the website Good as You, which advocates for LGBTQ rights, had this to say:

Here’s a tweet from 2017 in which Ivanka states her support of the LGBTQ community:

This commenter didn’t hesitate to use Ivanka’s own words against her:

Some reactions were more visceral:

In the end, it’s yet another example of a Trump’s action not aligning with their words or purported beliefs.
