In a candid interview on @SundayNightOn7, Australian superstar Olivia Newton-John, 69, revealed she is battling cancer for the third time.
Her first bout in 1992 was with breast cancer. This was followed by cancer in her shoulder five years ago. This time, it’s spinal cancer. In 2017, a tumor was discovered at the base of her spine, according to CNN.
Here’s the full interview on YouTube:
Ever the optimist, the four-time Grammy award winner, and advocate for cancer research and health awareness, refuses to get down, referring to cancer as her “mission.”
In the interview, the host, Alex Cullen, asked her, “You put on quite a brave face, but is it hard to always maintain it?”
She pauses and says, “Um, well, no,” and then laughs a little. “I have my moments but I’m not going to have my moments here,” she continued.
Then, Cullen expressed sadness, on behalf of Australians, that “our Olivia” is struggling with the disease, but Newton-John didn’t want to be singled out.
You know, that’s lovely, but I’m one of millions in this fight. I shouldn’t say ‘fight’ . . . in this journey. A lot of people see it as a fight, and however you choose to see it that’s your prerogative. I see it as part of my . . . mission, maybe.
