The IOC Has Narrowed The List Of Potential Hosts For 2026 Winter Games Down To Three Cities

On Thursday it was announced that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had narrowed in on three candidates for the city that will hold the 2026 Winter Olympic Games…

Their finalists appear to be Calgary, Canada, which hosted in 1988, Stockholm, Sweden, and an Italian multi-city bid. Erzurum in Turkey was dropped as an option due to issues with telecommunication, airports, and general transportation.

Calgary isn’t yet sure if they would like to be the city chosen, however, the question is going to go to the public as a ballot referendum on November 13th.

However, the IOC definitely seems pretty interested…

But many didn’t seem too interested…

But some Italians seemed excited by their prospects…

And despite the fact that Calgary residents seem pretty disinterested in hosting, that hasn’t stopped the city from prepping for it…

But still, Canadians were nonplussed…

Calgary may soon be out as an option simply thanks to popular vote.
