The Stars Of ‘Hocus Pocus’ Just Reunited For A Wickedly Fun 25th Anniversary Pic

Hocus Pocus is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with a big Halloween birthday bash. The original film follows a teenager who must battle the simultaneously evil and delightful Sanderson sisters, witches who were executed during the Salem witch trials but have been revived thanks to some hocus pocus (see what we did there). All of us fans of have made an October viewing of the movie a staple in our lives.

So it gives us unique joy to see these stars of the movie smiling together a quarter of a century later.

Larry Bagby, who played Ice (aka Ernie), the bully who steals the main character’s shoes, posted the photo. Also featured are original stars Tobias Jelenik , who played Ice’s partner in crime Jay, as well as the actors who played Max, the hero of the film, and his little sister Dani, Omri Katz and Thora Birch respectively. Not to be missed were the heroine Alison, played by Vinessa Shaw, and their undead helper, Billy Butcherson, played by Doug Jones.

Kenny Ortega, who directed the film, said of the movie’s 25th anniversary:

It’s a fun movie that just takes you away and there’s just magic there.

He went on:

We had a good time making it, and I feel that energy of what was present when we were making it is evident in the movie. You can see everyone’s having a good time. It’s there. It lives underneath the dialogue and underneath the music.

Hocus Pocus will be back in theaters for a limited time this Halloween season and will be heavily featured on the Disney-owned channel Freeform as part of their “31 Nights of Halloween” lineup. Disney also released a commemorative edition of the movie.

People are here for these anniversary festivities:

And they were feeling the nostalgia:

And people couldn’t get enough of the behind-the-scenes footage of the anniversary bash.

They especially loved this cover of “I Put a Spell On You” by Jordin Sparks, Dove Cameron, and Sofia Carson!

A special filmed during the anniversary bash featuring all these stars and the Sanderson sisters themselves — Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker — will air on Freeform on October 20.

We know what we’re doing that night.
