SparkToro, the software that helps advertisers and public relations professionals determine who their followers are, conducted an analysis of Donald Trump’s Twitter account and the results were not good. It turns out over 61% of Trump’s followers are fake.
According to the website:
Last week, SparkToro launched our third free tool, a service that analyzes Twitter accounts to estimate what percent of their followers are bots, spam, propaganda, or inactive accounts. By far the account thatÛªs been most checked by users of the tool is @realdonaldtrump. Since thereÛªs great interest in that account, we decided to expand our usual sample analysis (which looks at a random group of 2,000 followers) and run every single one of the accountÛªs 54,788,369 followers through our system.
Though it appears most politicians have at least some fake followers, the results are a little stunning considering Trump relies so heavily on reaching his “base” through Twitter. His number of followers, allegedly 54 million, is a little closer to 21 million.

With another 25 percent made up of @realDonaldTrump haters, that leaves just 14 percent of actual followers.
