Former ‘Top Chef’ Contestant Fatima Ali Reveals She Has A Year To Live In New Essay

Top Chef season 15 contestant,  Fatima Ali, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Ewings Sarcomadi, After receiving surgery and chemotherapy it looked like she’d beat the horrible disease, but in September the New Yorker was told she only had a year to live.

Having already written an essay on how treatment changed her relationship with food, Ali took pen to paper once again to write an inspiring essay on her changed perspective on life and her new future. In the piece for Bon Appetite she writes:

It‰Ûªs funny, isn‰Ûªt it? When we think we have all the time in the world to live, we forget to indulge in the experiences of living. When that choice is yanked away from us, that‰Ûªs when we scramble to feel. I am desperate to overload my senses in the coming months, making reservations at the world‰Ûªs best restaurants, reaching out to past lovers and friends, and smothering my family, giving them the time that I so selfishly guarded before.

She has also been chronicling her journey on Instagram.

Fans of the show and chefs around the world are reaching out to offer support.

Her friend and host of Top Chef, Padma Lakshmi wrote a loving tribute to her friend.

There was much love coming Ali’s way.

Her crew was sending the love.

We wish Ali the greatest adventure filled with love and joy.
