Steve Carrell Is Coming Back To TV—And Some Familiar Faces Are Joining Him 🙌

Steve Carrell’s dramatic work in recent films like Foxcatcher and Beautiful Boy is amazing, but no die-hard fan wouldn’t give their left leg to see Michael Scott right back on TV where he belongs.

While it may not be the comedically charged role we remember him in, Carrell’s television-based fans will be overjoyed to hear he’s planning his triumphant return to the small screen! The Hollywood Reporter reports that Apple has cast Carrell as the lead in a new drama centered around the daily operations of a morning show.

The series, which THR describes as “Apple’s morning show drama,” will feature Carrell as Mitch Kessler, a morning show host “struggling to maintain relevance in a changing media landscape.” Carrell will also be joined by two of Hollywood’s heaviest hitters: Jennifer Anniston and Reese Witherspoon.

Apple must be pretty excited by the trio of superstars, because they’re reportedly already picked up the series for two seasons:

“Picked up with a two-season, 20-episode order, the drama offers an inside look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning. Brian Stelter’s book ‘Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV’ serves as background for the series, which is based on an original concept by Michael Ellenberg.”

Witherspoon and Anniston will act as executive producers of the show through their respective production companies. After the success of Witherspoon’s Big Little Lies, this new Carrell-centered project appears to be Apple Streaming’s clearest attempt to make waves in the world of prestige streaming television.

Fans are thrilled they’ll be seeing some of their favorite stars back in a television series:

Prison Mike probably won’t be returning with Carrell’s new character, but this new show is a step in the right direction.

We have no details of the show’s release date but, with such high profile stars, we’re sure Mitch Kessler will reach the airwaves soon.
