Democratic Utah State Senator Jim Dabakis has some thoughts about the upcoming referendum that would legalize medicinal marijuana in the state of Utah. The lawmaker chose to travel across state lines to Las Vegas, where marijuana is legal, to show others in the state legislature that the drug is no big deal.
He decided to document the whole experience on Facebook.
The self professed “marijuana virgin” states in the video…
“I thought it was about time that at least one legislator knew a little bit about marijuana before we changed all the laws.”
He then proceeds to buy a $30 packet of marijuana gummy bears and only eats half a bear.
He returned to share his thoughts on Monday…
In the follow up he states…
“I made it back. I’m healthy. I wouldn’t suggest shooting up marijuana to anybody, but I’ll tell you: I think it’s a lot of ho-hum. I think the ‘Reefer Madness’ crowd, guys, you need to try it. It’s not that big a deal.”
While the upcoming Utah referendum is up to the voters, the state legislature will not technically be bound to follow the will of the residents of their state. Dabakis’ stunt was meant to draw awareness to this fact and to keep pressure on his fellow lawmakers so that they heed the popular vote, which will likely be in favor of legalization for medicinal use.
People were amused.

I guess he really takes the “don’t knock it till you try it”, to a whole new level.

Many felt it was high time that marijuana was legalized.
If I can grow it in my garden and use it without needing a lab to alter it, it should be legal. Isn't it the Republicans that like to fancy themselves as the party of less government oversight? What gives guys?

Pot should be legalized in the USA

If Utah does than there's hope for all.
