The musical Dear Evan Hansen, about an awkward teenager who grows closer to a former classmate’s family after that classmate’s death by suicide, took Broadway by storm. It swept the Tony Awards in 2017. The musical also turned its star, Ben Platt, into a household name.
Now, over a year later, a deluxe version of the cast album has been released featuring none other than Katy Perry taking a stab at the most famous anthem from the show, “Waving Through A Window”.
Katy Perry’s version can be heard below.
In addition to the Katy Perry cover, the deluxe version of the recording also features cut songs from the show, demos, and acoustic versions of songs from cast members.
People were in love with her rendition.

Katy Perry did the song justice. Dear Evan Hansen is beloved by fans worldwide for its frank discussions of mental health issues.

Caught @DearEvanHansen. Cannot think of a piece of art that has better depicted isolation or what it means to be growing up in America.
