J.K. Rowling Sues Assistant Who Allegedly Stole From Her For Years—Including ‘Harry Potter’ Memorabilia ????

J.K. Rowling is beloved worldwide for the gift of her Harry Potter series. The books spawned eight movies, a play, and a new prequel franchise couched in the character of Newt Scamander and his book, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Needless to say, J.K. Rowling is one of the most well-known authors in the world. Now, the BBC is reporting that Rowling is suing her former assistant, Amanda Donaldson.

Donaldson worked for Rowling between February 2014 and April 2017 before being fired. Legal papers have revealed that Donaldson is accused of wracking up £23,696.32 of personal credit card charges on Rowling’s business cards as well as stealing and selling Harry Potter memorabilia.

According to BBC:

“Ms Rowling also claims Ms Donaldson, who controlled memorabilia requests from fans, used her position to steal a Harry Potter motorised Hogwarts Express worth £467.56, a Harry Potter Wizard Collection worth £2231.76 and a Harry Potter Tales of Beedle The Bard Set worth £395.

“Ms Rowling says the toys were taken without her ‘knowledge or consent.'”

A spokeswoman for Rowling has confirmed the story but declined to comment further as it is an ongoing legal proceeding.

Reactions to the lawsuit were split:

What most are focused on right now in the Wizarding World is the impending release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

Some have questions about the connections to the Harry Potter story.

And most are pumped for the movie’s release.

We can’t wait.
