Looks Like ‘Vine” Is Back Under A New Name—For All Of You Who Were Waiting

The internet at large was devastated when Vine, the 6-second-video phenomenon sponsored by Twitter, shut down for good in early 2017.

But now Vine co-founder Dom Hofmann has announced plans to reintroduce the Vine format with a new app called Byte.

Vines were such a revolutionary introduction to contemporary pop culture that this announcement definitely has the internet feeling some kinda way:

Hofmann was not with Vine when it shuttered, having instead moved onto an app also called Byte that served as a “quirky digital art creation tool,” but didn’t actually last very long.

The internet is so ready for the new tool.  It’s been two whole years since six-second-looping-videos were mass produced.  Can you believe?

Spring 2019.  Mark your calendars!
