‘Game Of Thrones’ Director Hints That The Red Wedding Has Nothing On The Surprises In Store For Season 8 😮

On Tuesday, HBO announced that the award-winning hit series Game of Thrones, based on A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin, would return for its final season in April 2019. Fans have been waiting with bated breath for the conclusion of the story. The final installment is coming nearly two years after the last one to allow time for “winter to come” and to complete the visual effects needed. In tandem with the announcement, Thrones director David Nutter conducted an AMA on Reddit.

Nutter directed the infamous “Red Wedding” episode, and had this to say about it:

“I remember I was shooting season 2 in Iceland and Dan took me to a restaurant in Reykjavik and we had a multi course, multi wine dinner and wanted to talk to me about directing Red Wedding trying to talk me into it. Well, he didn’t have to talk me into it, I was looking forward to doing it very much — and I hadn’t read the books cause I wanted to let the scripts guide me into where I was going. So I had no idea the pressure I was under except the pressure I always put myself under in order to make it great. The more I get into the project of course the more pressure I realize there really was. That was one of the ultimate moments of the series as far as some major characters are concerned and I just wanted to make it good and live up to the books. One of the most interesting things to me that surprised me the most was the responses of the audience — the YouTube videos showing people reacting to what they were watching I felt great about cause I felt like I had succeeded in doing so. As far as season 8 compared to the Red Wedding I just have to tell you – hang onto your seat cause it’s going to be special.”

The “Red Wedding” is one of the most heartbreaking and brutally violent episodes in the entire series. The fact that Nutter has stated that the final season will have fans gripping their seats even tighter than that iconic moment says a lot. Nutter also said the final season will be “spectacular, satisfying,” and will contain “lots of surprises and shocking moments.”

He went on to explain:

“The White Walker army will not be the only issue our characters have to face in season 8. They have to also face each other.”

People are excited for the final season.

Many couldn’t contain themselves.

April really can’t come soon enough.

We have a date with our couches in April.
