Kaepernick, who famously took a knee during the national anthem to protest systemic racism and police brutality in the Black community, is often criticized by Trump supporters who think his protest is somehow tied to American troops. (Hint: It’s not.)
Carey posted the photo to her Instagram account with the caption:
“Such an honor to meet @kaepernick7 today!”
A few misinformed Carey fans flipped out and added the singer to the growing list of folks they can no longer support.
