The Trailer For The Live-Action ‘Lion King’ Just Dropped—And It’s Basically A Shot-For-Shot Remake Of The Original

The first trailer for the CGI remake of The Lion King film dropped on Thanksgiving and it’s amazing.

The new movie continues the recent live-action remake trend Disney has been indulging. The look is very similar to the 2016 version of The Jungle Book but this film will not include any live actors. It is being helmed by Jon Favreau, who directed The Jungle Book remake as well as the first Iron Man movie.

From what we’ve seen, it’s a near-perfect recreation of the original, with realistic-looking animals and an all-star cast.

The trailer dropped to much fanfare on twitter.

It’s a childhood come home.

This trailer replicates the iconic “Circle of Life” opening, with nearly the same camera moves. Beloved characters such as Simba, Sarabi, Rafiki, and the mighty Mufasa are seen in photorealistic rendering.

For anyone who grew up with this movie, it’s a breathtaking event.

The trailer was released online during the annual Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Day game and was uploaded to the official Disney Twitter account shortly after. The new movie stars Donald Glover, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, and brings back James Earl Jones as Mufasa.

It’s set to be released on July 19, 2019. Get your tissues ready!
