J.K. Rowling’s iconic Harry Potter series took the world by storm during your childhood, spawning a devoted fandom and a motion picture series that launched the careers of now-ubiquitous actors like Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson.
So when one of the movies’ stars—Tom Felton, who played antagonist Draco Malfoy—said he hadn’t watched any of the film’s since their premieres, it raised eyebrows.
After all, who doesn’t settle in for a weekend of Harry Potter marathons on Freeform at least once a month?
But it turns out his reasoning is as sweet as Malfoy was bitter.
When asked if he ever rewatches the films, Malfoy—er, Felton—responded.
Fair warning: his reason will make you cry.
“I have seen the Potter films during the premieres, but other than that no — never!”
“I’m saving that for a sacred day. I have visions of doing that with my two kids when I’m a little bit older.”
We can easily imagine him wiping a single tear from his eye as his little tykes stare eagerly at the screen.
Though Felton has no children yet, many on Twitter are eager to change that.

And though Felton may have played an antagonist fans loved to hate, he’s still not short of admirers.

28. the adaptation of half-blood prince was embarrassingly inaccurate. they butchered what might be the best book in the series. the only good thing that came out of it was tom felton’s outstanding performance.

tom felton as draco malfoy was the biggest blessing. you can see the pain behind the bully. the movies don't give much to his character but in this one you see the history in his pain. it doesn't need to be explained. he's not perfect, but he is capable of being good. pic.twitter.com/0KrCeftVtc

While Tom Felton may be abstaining from the films til that special day, we feel certain that fans will be watching his performance as Malfoy enough times to make up for it.
The actor spent a stint on the CW’s The Flash as Julian Albert. He’s set to star in YouTube Premium series Origin, the story of “a group of strangers struggle for survival aboard a spaceship heading to a distant planet.”
