Emma Stone Is Reportedly In Talks To Play An Iconic Live-Action Disney Villain—And The Internet Has Lots Of Feelings

As millennials step into full-fledged adult status, Disney has seemingly made it their mission to recreate all of their favorite childhood classics with today’s human stars.

We have already seen remakes of princess movies like Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. Disney fans are also looking forward to The Lion King and Aladdin and, for fans who are looking for something that falls into more of a “spin-off” category, Mary Poppins Returns and Dumbo might just fit the bill.

Disney is at it again with an upcoming retelling of the story of 101 Dalmatians. This remake is already looking to be a fascinating new twist on the classic with director Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya) at the helm, and Emma Stone in the role of Cruella de Vil. Stone’s involvement in the film is not news to those who follow Disney’s news closely. However, one snippet of information is.

The newest live-action of 101 Dalmatians will stray from Glenn Close’s 1996 traditional retelling of the story. Stone will portray a punk rock Cruella from the ’80s.

The creative choice seems to be a little out of left field, but that has not stopped people from climbing on board.

But others are just not feeling good about the whole situation.

The project was originally slated to be directed by Alex Timbers, but with his Broadway premieres of Moulin Rouge and Beetlejuice, he ran into scheduling issues.
